Metal Clay FAQ's
How many times can I reuse the texture?
• TextureSmith.com textures are made from a durable recycled paper and they will last for multiple uses. Paper will have limited life span but if used and stored properly they will last approx 10 or more uses.
Why is my clay sticking to the texture sheet?
•Clay sticks for a variety of reasons:
• The clay is too wet
• The texture sheet hasn’t been properly conditioned
• Not enough release agent on the texture
• Did not use the reduction roller method
• During the reduction roller method the clay was not lubricated on the second roll
Did I condition my texture sheet properly?
• Texture sheets must be sprayed twice with release agent like CoolSlip and dried in between coats.
Drying time can be sped up by putting the texture into a dehydrator I bought two different textures, one is sticking and one does not.
What else can I do to ensure success?
• Smaller complex patterns may require a gentle but firm roll and a one card reduction roll method.
• Areas with large untextured areas may require more release agent.
• A slow removal of the clay can help prevent sticking.
